Ok so this person who is doing a voiceover does not know the story. 95% of the film isn’t in this video. This channel most likely copied a cut down edited version. The reason the plane crashed (as confirmed by other Russian pilots in this video). Was this pilot flew low so much there was salt dried on the plane. This means salt built up in the engines as well. The full version video (not this one) clearly shows one of its engine blow out as the plane past right by the US ship. The loss of one engine 15 meters above the water meant that side of the plane (its right side) lost lift. This caused the plane to lose altitude, and with only 15 meters or so above water there was no room and it crashed. The pilot would fly by low then push the throttle to get altitude once it pasted by the ship. In the full video you can see the engine blow out as the pilot gave it more power to raise altitude. I really wish people who have RUclips channels and are “teaching” people should actually do research and not just “copy n paste” someone else’s video that on yt probably has errors. Fact check your content.

Not a good look to lose an aircraft carrier strike group. Especially in '68 during the Cold War. Somebody went to a gulag over that one. But, an "unmanned anti-submarine helicopter?" Didn't think such things existed in any US military branch back then. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
